William de Goat: The Story of Air Commodore William de Goat DSO DFC, the extraordinary Mascot of 609 (West Riding) Squadron during the Second World War

Then we were up in the air; I tried to move around but was restrained. I really was special – they even took me flying!

William certainly was a special goat and here he tells his story of the time he spent looking after his boys of 609 (West Riding) Squadron of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force from 1941-1945. With a little help from Brian Waite, who interjects here and there to fill us in on some of the details, we get an amazing picture of what this special, morale-boosting creature experienced as the official mascot and the highest ranking officer to serve with 609 (West Riding) Squadron.
